What we stock

Janitorial supplies for plants, offices, kitchens and facilities: can liners and trash liners, brown-roll and kitchen roll towel, paper towel, toilet paper, gloves, and cleaning products.

Come winter, ice melt and rock salt for walkways, docks and lots, ordered before the first freeze rather than during it.

None of it is complex. The best part is that it arrives with the packaging order, on a standing order you set once, from one supplier.

Ordering the right thing

Two things get ordered wrong more than anything else on a janitorial list: liners and winter salt.

If you are re-ordering what a previous facilities manager set up, it is worth checking the spec once. Liners in particular are often two sizes too big, which is money going into the bin quite literally.

Sizing and specifying can liners

A liner that is too large wastes material and hangs badly. One that is too small tears at the lip or falls in.

SpecHow to get it right
WidthFor a round can, roughly half the circumference of the rim. For a square or rectangular can, half the perimeter.
LengthThe height of the can plus enough to cover the bottom and give an overhang to tie or tuck. Measure, do not eyeball it.
Gauge or thicknessLiners are quoted by thickness. Heavier is not automatically better: it is about what goes in the bin.
Low-density filmStretchier and more puncture-resistant. The choice for sharp, heavy or irregular waste in a plant or shop.
High-density filmStronger for its weight against tearing, but less forgiving of punctures. Good for paper, food and general office waste.

Ice melt and rock salt

Michigan winters do not negotiate. What matters is the temperature the product still works at, and what the surface underneath can tolerate.

ConsiderationWhat to know
Rock saltSodium chloride. The cheapest and most common option, and effective in the milder part of the winter. It loses effectiveness as temperatures drop well below freezing.
Blended ice meltBlends work at lower temperatures than plain rock salt, which matters in a real cold snap and on early-morning docks.
SurfacesNew concrete, decorative surfaces and some metals are less tolerant of certain products. Tell us what you are treating.
Volume and timingSupply tightens as soon as the first serious storm lands. Buying in the fall is cheaper and far less stressful.

Janitorial supplies: common questions

For a round can, the liner width should be roughly half the circumference of the rim, and the length should be the can height plus enough to cover the bottom and leave an overhang. For a square or rectangular can, use half the perimeter for the width.

The most common mistake is over-sizing, which means paying for film that ends up bunched inside the can. Send us the can dimensions or the box you are buying now and we will confirm the size.

Low-density film is stretchier and much more resistant to punctures, so it is the right choice for sharp, heavy or irregular waste in a plant, shop or construction setting.

High-density film is stronger for its weight against straight tearing but less forgiving of anything sharp. It suits paper, food and general office waste, and it costs less for the same capacity.

Rock salt is sodium chloride, the cheapest and most common de-icer, and it works well through the milder part of the winter. Its effectiveness drops off as temperatures fall well below freezing.

Blended ice melt products stay effective at lower temperatures, which is what you want for early-morning docks and a genuine cold snap. Which one you need depends on your coldest realistic conditions and on the surfaces you are treating.

Fall. Supply tightens the moment the first serious storm arrives, and prices follow. Setting a standing order before the season means the pallet is already on site when you need it.
